Greetings in the Powerful Name of our Gracious Lord!
By now you are aware that Rev. Kim Smith will be retiring as our District Superintendent in August and he and Rose will begin a new stage of ministry and adventure! We thank them for their service to the Iowa District and for loving and leading us for 8 years. Your District Advisory Committee (DAC) recently met with our USA/Canada Regional Director, Dr. Robert Broadbooks, to consider the next steps in locating God’s anointed, future leader for our district. The Holy Spirit’s presence was evident throughout the meeting, giving each of us the assurance that He will guide us through this time of transition! We prayerfully discussed and decided upon the beginning aspects of the transition, which the process committee will be communicating with you soon. This process will guide us as we seek the Lord’s will for our District. At the forefront of all our planning was a strong sense of the need for corporate, united prayer and fasting from our District Family as we seek God’s direction in finding our new leader. We know that we serve a people who are a praying people here on our Iowa District, and that many of you have already begun to pray for these needs. We felt the effect of those prayers in our first meeting, and we are aware that we need the prayer of our District to increase in the days ahead! We do not know how long the process will take, but the members of the DAC are committed to praying, fasting, and listening for God’s voice!! – and we invite you to join us in this united effort. We will be calling for specific days of Fasting as well as specific areas of Prayer as we move forward. As we begin this journey together, we challenge you to pray BOLD prayers – the first specific area of prayer is that God directs us during our search, and that our churches and souls prosper and grow! Pastors & Church Leaders, we ask you to include this important call to Prayer and Fasting in your communications – highlighted in your worship folders and announcements, on your church website, Facebook page and other social media outlets, emails, bulletin boards, etc. We look forward to the exciting things God has in store as we seek Him together for our new leader! Remember you’re loved & appreciated! District Advisory Committee – Prayer Team Rev. Tim Carter Rev. Darren Melton Rev. Mark Doll “Pray and never faint, is the motto Christ gives us for praying.” E.
